TESTIMONIALS

Cassimatis is sensational – a genuine triple threat who sings, dances and breaks your heart as she begs Zach to consider her, and then launches into an extended solo, surrounded by mirrors. Campbell’s choreography with its fast spins, leaps and turns, and lyrical extensions, is stunning, and Cassimatis more than does it justice.

A CHORUS LINE - LIMELIGHT

But the star turn in the show is Angelique Cassimatis, who draws eyes and attention every minute her Columbia is onstage. With her excellent singing voice, disarmingly strong dancing, and solid acting chops, she is leading lady material. She’s a grounding force in the wilder scenes; there’s something so appealingly real about her, no matter what’s happening on stage around her. It’s a gift to the production and this production should feel very grateful to have her.

ROCKY HORROR SHOW - AUSSIE THEATRE

Angelique Cassimatis is a fire-cracker as Mabel, brimming with energy and sporting a hard-edged Brooklyn accent as she deftly navigates her character’s arc from Flat Bush delicatessen waitress to glamorous but troubled Hollywood star. She brings a lively panache to Look What Happened to Mabel, but it’s in the darker songs, Wherever He Ain’t – sung bitterly after she leaves Sennett to pursue a more serious career – and the more poignant Time Heals Everything, sung with throaty pathos, that she really shines, eliciting sympathy in a show low on sympathetic characters.

MACK & MABLE - LIMELIGHT

Cassimatis is extraordinarily talented, utterly owning the characters she creates, each one with their own motivations for the actions they commit, and the production as a whole is a knock-out. Amy Campbell’s choreography is beautiful and flowing, and Cassimatis utilises it elegantly, ensuring smoothly flowing scene changes which allow for creative costume and character changes. Her singing, accents, and comedic timing are fine-tuned, and ably supported by musical director Lucy Bermingham and four musicians playing piano, percussion, bass guitar, and acoustic/electric guitar.
